The University launched its Healthy Campus initiative this week to help its staff and students get fitter.
Monday’s official launch of the year-long initiative saw fresh fruit handed out at both the Luton and Bedford campuses.
The initiative aims to demonstrate just how easy it can be to live a healthier lifestyle and most of the planned events throughout the year will be for everyone, with a few aimed specifically at just staff or students.
The University’s sports development officer, Julia Lines, said: “We hope to promote some of the excellent services already on offer on campus and in the surrounding area for the benefit of the University’s students and staff.
“A number of organisations and our partners are working with us to provide access and discounts to many facilities within Beds and Bucks. This will help to improve lives and make the University a better place to study and work.”

The University’s showpiece event, in partnership with Bedford Borough Council, is when it hosts the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Bedford on Sunday, 21 March.
Runners can even choose how far they go - one, three or six miles - and can also make it their own by wearing red on the day or getting friends to join in! Visit www.sportrelief.com for more details.
Julia said: “Hopefully people will either be inspired to take part, or else help out on the day as we will need a considerable amount of volunteers.”
Anyone wishing to volunteer should register with Julia, providing contact details and any previous experience, at julia.lines@beds.ac.uk
