First Year students showcased their project
work at a Leading Change Conference at the University's Putteridge Bury Campus recently.
The nine students are undertaking the
University’s Leadership in Healthcare Practice MSc. This conference was organised by the students as part of their first year
project.
Also in attendance was Dame Christine Beasley, DBE, Chief Nursing Officer for England.
Now into its second year, this annual Conference is going from strength to strength. Professor of Nursing Dr Christopher Johns said: “I’ve been impressed by the high standard of research made by students over the past year.
“When many of the students
are doing a similar type of dissertation in the same organisation, this gives
us good analysis and insights into their experiences in the NHS and how
leadership could evolve in their organisational culture.”

The students are mostly drawn from the local area and come from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. They include occupational therapists, dieticians, and clinical nurses along with nurses currently in more senior management positions.
In her key note speech to the Conference, Dame Christine fully endorsed the aims of the University’s Leadership in Healthcare Practice MSc programme. She highlighted its important contribution developing experienced NHS practitioners with the leadership skills to meet future challenges.
