A graduation ceremony at Luton will be extra special this week, thanks to BBC Radio 5 Live.
The Victoria Derbyshire Show will broadcast live tomorrow (Tuesday, 20 July) from St Mary’s Church, from 10am. Graduate employment will be the theme of the radio show.
Tomorrow’s ceremony is one
of a number taking place this week, for students who have graduated with
degrees from the University’s four faculties – Creative Arts, Technologies and
Science (CATS), Health and Social Sciences, The Business School, and Education and
Sport.
Ten honorary degrees are also being awarded throughout the week in recognition
of the achievements of people who have earned distinction in their particular
field.
Among those who are being presented with honorary degrees are Pam Rhodes who
for the past 23 years has presented the BBC religious programme Songs of
Praise. In recognition of her contribution to news journalism and for her
charitable works, Pam will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts.
Others being honoured include the Fleet Street journalist and industrial affairs writer Geoffrey Goodman, the businessman and entrepreneur Jan Telensky, businessman Derek Ludlow and the University of Luton alumnus Lennox Adams in recognition of his contribution to the education of people with sensory impairments.
