The sensor revolution is here, yet only a fraction of its potential impact in business and society is understood. The University of Bedfordshire’s Knowledge Network is hosting an event that will give an insight into the sensor revolution, what the future holds and will present cutting-edge research and the latest developments in science and technology.
‘You Know it Makes Sensors’ takes place on Tuesday 29th June at the Putteridge Bury Conference Centre, Luton. Delegates attending the event can expect to hear about the latest developments in sensor technology from both the worlds of research and business.
In domestic appliances, factories and medical devices, sensors complement our industries and our lives. Practical application of sensor technology can be as diverse as a label that indicates the ripeness of fruit, bio sensors that detect viruses, toxins and bacteria, and conception indicator pregnancy tests.
The fascinating programme of talks at “ You Know it Makes Sensors” will include keynote speeches from Tiantian Zhang, Director of LIRANS (the Institute of Research in the Applied Natural Sciences), who will be giving an overview of the exciting work taking place in LIRANS; Dr Barry Haggett, Head of the Sensor Research Group, who will explain how sensor technology already has a significant impact on our private and business lives; and Mark O’Connell, Technical Director of Probe Scientific will reveal how his company brought to market technologies that are having a radical impact on the provision of health care, in addition to an overview of Probe’s business model.
‘You Know it Makes Sensors’ is part of the 2010 ‘Changing Lives’ programme and is open to the public. Entry costs £10 and includes a buffet and wine and the opportunity to network with local businesses at the end of the event. Tickets can be reserved by calling on 0800 328 5334 or by e-mailing info@theknowledgenetwork.co.uk
