Art and Design Degree Show 2010 - 1

The opening week of the annual Art and Design Degree Show at the University of Bedfordshire has brought culture to the masses.

The fortnight-long degree show at the Luton campus is called We Create Together this year and features creative work from final year students set to graduate in July.

Opening night on Thursday (17 June) saw the degree show launched in A block at Park Square, followed by animation screenings in the Judith Blake Theatre and then a successful fashion show to complete the evening. Full story here.

Partner colleges and schools, applicants and industry professionals were all invited to opening night. Kelvin Hopkins, MP for Luton North, and Gavin Shuker, MP for Luton South, were also invited and both attended.

John Stephens, Head of the Division of Art and Design at the University, said: “This is the fourth year of the degree show in this format and the opening night was very, very busy. There were lots of positive comments saying it was our best show ever.”

The degree show is entirely organised by the students themselves as they prepare and choose their own work, prepare their exhibition space and method of presentation and also produce a professional portfolio and other material to market themselves professionally.

The students are on 10 separate courses - Advertising Design, Animation, Art and Design, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, and Photography and Video Art.

The degree show is running until a week on Saturday (3 July) when an open day is taking place at the Luton campus. It is free to enter and is open from 10am-5pm on weekdays and 10am-4pm on Saturdays.
