Staff and students from the University were competing for the coveted title of Miss Bedfordshire 2010 at the weekend.
A quartet with links to the University - staff member Rebecca Grant-Jones, current students Charlotte Sankar and Lucy Hogg, and nursing graduate Stephanie Perry - were in the finals at The Rose Marquee at Luton Rugby Club on Sunday (20 June).
Three of them - Rebecca, Lucy and Stephanie - reached the last 15 in the competition but did not go any further.
Rebecca (shown right), the Events and Communications Administrator, was sponsored by the University itself after reaching the last eight of the Miss Bedfordshire finals in 2009.
The 23 year old from Kempston said: “It was a fantastic experience and having the chance to meet the current Miss England was an honour. I have to thank the University of Bedfordshire for sponsoring me and my friends and family who were there on the night for all their support (and cheering!).”
Stephanie (shown left) from Surrey, who is now a paediatric nurse after graduating in February, had the comfort of being voted Miss Congeniality by all the other contestants. She was sponsored by Phillip J Gollins General Builder Ltd.
Lucy (shown right), a first year TV Production student who was sponsored by www.KcoUK.com, comes from Droitwich in Worcestershire.
Charlotte from Leicester was staying in student halls at Luton while in her first year of a degree in Psychology and Criminal Behaviour. The teenager was sponsored by G Casino in Luton.
The winner, Malin Andersson who was dubbed a Cheryl Cole lookalike, will now go through to represent the county in the Miss England finals.
