A University collaboration with local promoters is bringing live music to Bedford.

The exclusive partnership between the University of Bedfordshire Students’ Union (UBSU) and MGP Music will bring live music to the Bedford Corn Exchange throughout 2010.

This partnership will be launched on Friday, 4 June, when We Are The Ocean, the 2008 Kerrang! Award nominees for best UK newcomers, play Bedford.

The concert series will continue throughout the summer with events expected every month. The UBSU will be providing subsidised coaches from Luton for students or people from the local community who wish to attend.

Mark Robertson from MGP Music said: “I am really excited by this partnership with UBSU and the opportunity to provide regular live music nights to the students at the University as well as the people of Bedfordshire.

“We have a cracking line-up to kick-off the series and we have several top acts in the pipeline, so watch this space.”

We Are The Ocean have released their debut album and it is already selling well online. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/wearetheoceanuk

Support on the opening night is coming from Brighton-based Brides and Giants from Essex and sets from local bands Charlie Indestructible and Tonight We’re Electric.
