Student PE teachers from the University of Bedfordshire gained some invaluable experience by organising a county-wide school athletics event.

The University played a pivotal role in staging the annual Bedfordshire and Luton Schools’ Combined Events Championships once more at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium recently.

Mark Bowler, a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education at the University, took care of the pre-event organisation before the students took control on the day.

He said: “It was a good day from our perspective and stayed dry, although it could have been a bit warmer!

“I was really pleased with the professionalism and hard work of the students on what was quite a long day.”

Eighty Year Three and Year Four PE student teachers were involved in all aspects of organisation including officiating, inputting data/recording, announcing, refereeing, timekeeping and place judging.
