Noel Douglas is the poster boy for the department of Art and Design.
A senior lecturer and programme leader in graphic design and illustration, Noel has been shortlisted for the prestigious Warsaw International Poster Biennale.
This is being staged as an exhibition at the Wilanów Poster Museum in the Polish capital from June to August where Noel will be competing for the grand prize.
He said: “There’s a strong tradition of poster art in Poland and this event in Warsaw is the most important poster art competition in the world.”

Another of his posters has been included in the US book Green Patriot Posters which is being published by Metropolis Books in the autumn. Others in the book include Shepard Fairey, Mike Perry, Geoff McFetridge, DJ Spooky, Flat, Vier5, Paul Elliman and Rob Giampietro.
Globetrotter Noel also flew out to Bolivia in April for an event called The People’s World Summit on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth.
This was arranged by the country’s president, Evo Morales, after the United Nations summit in Copenhagen back in December. The South American event attracted 35,000 people from all over the world.
Noel said: “It was an historic event and I felt full of hope after being there. It was quite incredible and ended with some radical statements of intent and action plans, of which I was a part of creating along with all the other people at the conference.
“The idea is that the conference will put pressure on the next COP16 meeting in Mexico this December, and simultaneously build a world people’s movement to really address the kind of radical changes that will be necessary to halt climate change.”
