This year’s Luton Carnival is being sponsored by the University of Bedfordshire.

More than 100,000 people are expected for Britain’s biggest one-day carnival which is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday (31 May) from midday to 7pm.

Professor James Crabbe, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science (CATS), said: “The University is delighted to be sponsoring the event this year. The Carnival is a key date in the town’s calendar and the University is a proud supporter of such an important community and cultural event.”

The coral reef expert got in the carnival mood recently at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts (UKCCA) in Luton ahead of Monday’s extravaganza.

The University-sponsored Luton Arts Festival team is also running a stage, situated in Market Hill, at the Carnival.

This will include a number of bands ranging from jazz through to indie, funk and samba and there will also be live hip hop dancing and graffiti art displays.
