More than 100 sports therapy students from the University of Bedfordshire massaged aching limbs at this year’s London Marathon.
For the ninth year running, students journeyed to London to provide a highly-valued post-race sports massage service at various charity reception centres.
Led by many of the lecturing staff from the Division of Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, students massaged the legs of at least 700 runners and were thrilled by the experience of working at this spectacular event.
Senior Lecturer Tim Paine said: “It was an exhausting but fantastic day and we have received very positive feedback from the charities we supported. A huge thank you once again to everyone involved for all their hard work.”

The feedback came from charities such as:
The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice: “Please pass on our sincere thanks to the therapists and we really enjoyed working with them. I know that our runners very much appreciated their skill and commitment.”
MacMillan Cancer Support: “I believe this year was the best year yet for our Recovery Centre which is largely thanks to all the massage therapists.”
The Lord’s Taverners: “The people who came along were all really, really great - extremely professional and very hard working.”
More than 35,000 entrants were able to complete this year’s London Marathon on Sunday, 25 April.
