The University of Bedfordshire’s second annual Varsity against the University of Hertfordshire is being followed by an Easter tour for its sporting students.

The clash against Hertfordshire takes place next Wednesday (6 April) on home soil at the Bedford campus and revenge is on the menu.

Bedfordshire lost the inaugural Varsity against its near neighbours by just one point and hope this year’s home advantage will prove decisive.

Lyndsay Murphy, President of the Students’ Union, said: “We are confident that we can win Varsity this year at our home ground, where there will also be lots for people to do. We invite all staff and students to come along and cheer on our teams on the day.”

There will be food, a bar and entertainment, and recreational dodgeball and rounders competitions are being offered to any staff or students wishing to take part.

Teams are being selected after the University’s annual inter-campus Varsity where football, rugby, netball, basketball and hockey were among the sports played on both the Luton and Bedford campuses this Wednesday (30 March).

This Easter also sees the annual sports tour overseas, again to Lloret de Mar on the Spanish Costa Brava, when 100 students will be playing rugby, volleyball and netball among other sports from 16-22 April. The University competed in a number of sports last year and were the netball tournament winners.
