A senior law lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire will be crossing the Channel to receive a prestigious postgraduate award in Paris on 5 December.
Dr Konstantinos Sergakis, who joined the School of Law at the Luton campus in September, will attend a special ceremony at Paris-Sorbonne University. Dr Sergakis will receive the Prix Solennel André Isoré from La Chancellerie des Universites de Paris for his Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy) on "The transparency of listed companies in EU Law".
Each year, the Chancellerie bestows a number of prizes to reward the academic and scientific quality of doctoral theses in law and political science, economics and management, medicine and science, arts and humanities, and pharmacy. The Prix Solennel André Isoré is the most important award given for PhDs in the field of legal studies in France.
Dr Sergakis said: "It is a great honour to receive this award. It has really motivated me to carry on pursuing research of the highest standard. I strongly believe that the University of Bedfordshire’s School of Law, with its newly established Centre for Research in Law, is a great place to carry out research and I look forward to contributing further to enhancing the research profile of the School."
Acting Head of the School of Law, Carolyn Naughton, said: "I'm delighted for Konstantinos. The Prix Solennel André Isoré is a great honour for Konstantinos and also for the School of Law and recognition of the excellent quality of research carried out by our members of staff."
Dean of the Faculty Professor Paul Burns, added: “I congratulate Konstantinos on his outstanding achievement. He is a prime example of the high calibre teaching and research being undertaken in the School of Law at Bedfordshire."
