Students organised and performed at a charity live music event at the University of Bedfordshire’s Luton campus.
Luton Oxjam was part of the national initiative, Oxjam, a
music festival made up of hundreds of events around the UK last October.
All the proceeds went to Oxfam and the 150 eventgoers raised £350 on the night
for the worthy cause.
Organiser Belinda Conde, an international student from Malaga in Spain who is in the second year of a degree in PR, said: “I found it hectic to organise – but exciting! I was really pleased with the turnout and it was great on the night to see everyone helping out and enjoying themselves.”
The Luton Oxjam was the penultimate ever event to be held at the Students’ Union Sub Club in Vicarage Street.
Belinda added: “There is still live music at the University in the new Students’ Union. Students still have a place to go and listen to live music, although it has to be acoustic now.”

Billed as ‘a night of live music with a humankind edge’, Luton Oxjam saw second year student Louise White perform some acoustic numbers on her singing debut and was followed by two local bands from Luton, headline act Sleeping With Wolves and Friends of the Family, with The Recusants from London sandwiched in between.
Two more Bedfordshire students, DJ Taki and DJ Inka, were joined by Luton-based DJ Brown Suga on the decks.
There was help from volunteers Laura Bianchini, Jade Diaz and Connor Green, while Media Performance student Mimi Barber interviewed all the artists on the night.
Media Production students filmed the event which was edited by level two student Corinne Riley. You can view the results: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7l48hqEw58
