Hats off to Luton’s honorary graduates

People from the worlds of business and news will join hundreds of University of Bedfordshire students at graduation ceremonies next week.

The graduation ceremonies for the University’s Luton campus are taking place on Tuesday to Friday inclusive (19-22 July) at the Grade 1 listed building St Mary’s Church, Luton.

Students are drawn from the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies & Science (CATS), Faculty of Health & Social Sciences (HSS) and the University’s Business School (UBBS).

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon CBE, said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard to get this far and I congratulate each and every one of them for remaining focused and dedicated throughout.

“I wish them every success for the future whether they are entering the world of work or going on to postgraduate study.”

A number of honorary degrees are also being awarded over the four days. They include John David Caudwell, former Chief Executive of Phones 4 U who is now Chairman and Founder of the charity Caudwell Children, Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times and Partha Dey, the Luton businessman who recently climbed Mount Everest.

Others being awarded are:

  • Michael Connolly, Dr Margaret Whitehead, Paddy Barrett, Alison Batten, Lynne Berry OBE, Jon Cawley, Claire Guest, Katy Haber, Martin Hill, Clifton Ibbett, Bill Parfitt, Christopher Powell, Philippe Rochon, Debbie Scott and Stephen Streater.
