All Saints Academy students at their art exhibition

Nearly 40 students from All Saints Academy in Dunstable are showcasing their artwork at b Gallery in Toddington.

The school is sponsored by the University of Bedfordshire and the students took inspiration from a recent visit to the University. The project is called CRE8 and focuses on science, especially genetics.

The youngsters were given a lecture and the chance to use the University’s state-of-the-art facilities, which inspired their art. The exhibition runs until 20 August 2011.

All Saints Work Related Experience Co-ordinator Stephanie Nunn said: ‘We are delighted to be exhibiting at b Gallery. CRE8 is an exciting and innovative project, with a focus on science and the students visited the University of Bedfordshire for a lecture and experiments to inspire them.

“Their art exhibition is a culmination of their learning, interpreted and transferred into creative form – this includes a dance, physical theatre and music piece as well as all the works of art. We hope their exhibition will be well received in the local community.”

The b Gallery in Toddington is situated in an attractive Grade II listed building where talented emerging artists exhibit alongside established fine art.

Professor James Crabbe is Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science at the University. He said: “It is great to see that the All Saints Academy students are taking inspiration from our mix of creative arts and science and that their opportunity to use our world-class facilities has led to such incredible artwork.”
