Guy Parrott

Two lecturers in the University of Bedfordshire’s Business School have just received a prestigious award from the Emerald Literati Network for their research.

Guy Parrott and Muhammad Azam Roomi co-authored an article called ‘An analysis of marketing programmes adopted by regional small and medium-sized enterprises’ which has been selected as one of the most impressive pieces of work that the Emerald Literati Network panel has seen in 2010.

Guy is Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Muhammad is a Principal Lecturer and the Director of Research at the Centre for Women's Enterprise at the University. Both are Fellows of the Higher Education Academy.

The article was awarded a Highly Commended certificate in the Network’s 2011 Awards for Excellence after its publication in the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development.

The award winning papers are chosen following consultation amongst the journal’s Editorial Team, many of whom are eminent academics or managers. The panel praised the work for its integrity and for the contribution it makes to the area of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) research.

Guy said: “We’re both absolutely delighted to have been recognised for our research in this way by our peers.”

Muhammad added: “It reinforces our determination to develop further research into understanding business and marketing expertise in this area.”

The Emerald Literati Network recognises and rewards the efforts of authors and editors in a number of research fields and its Awards for Excellence are presented every year. Guy will be receiving his award at the Academy Of Marketing Conference in Liverpool in July.
