Biddenham Upper School recently visited the University’s Luton campus for a Taster Day

The University of Bedfordshire welcomed around 180 pupils from Biddenham Upper School near Bedford recently, to get a taste of what university life is all about.

The Year 12 students visited the Luton campus, where they toured the Psychology department and met with teaching staff, followed by a campus tour. The students also gained a preview of the University’s brand new £40m Halls of Residence in the town, due to open this summer.

The visit was rounded off with a question and answer session in the new Campus Centre, where current University students gave their views on questions ranging from student life and how to get the most out of your studies, to student finance and budgeting.

Nicky Kemp, Head of Sixth Form at Biddenham Upper School said: “For most sixth formers this is their first visit to a university and the day really helps them focus on study options after sixth form. The Taster Day is valuable in confirming the students’ desire to attend university.”

The University’s Head of Student Recruitment Lal Joshi, said: “Biddenham’s students asked our undergraduates some tough questions at the final session of the day, regarding course financing and their views on living away from home for the first time. I hope Biddenham’s sixth formers now feel confident to make their UCAS applications later this year."
