The University of Bedfordshire is hosting the latest Game Jam event in the UK, where students are challenged to create a new video game in just 48 hours.
Game Jam events are held regularly around the world, with the idea to create a game from scratch in just a weekend. The games have to be made according to a specific theme and are then later released as a free download to the public.
The event is taking place in the computing labs and new Campus Centre at the Luton campus from 6pm next Friday (25 March) evening and is being run by online learning college Train2Game.
All proceeds are being donated to The Prince’s Trust Charity for young people, all the competitors are over 17 and the teams will have up to six people drawn from the University and elsewhere.
Dave Sharp from Train2Game said: “Train2Game’s Game Jam is for all those with a passion for gaming; a test of skill, creativity and imagination. A small group acting as a team exemplifies where games development is heading and the Game Jam model brings that together beautifully.
“I’m expecting to see some new and crazy ideas flow out of this event and prove that the participants are up to the challenge!”
Further details are on the official Train2Game website www.train2game.com
