Postgrad Fair - Brain Power competition winners

New students at the University of Bedfordshire tested their brain power at a Postgraduate Induction fair.

Hundreds of students flocked to the new £34m Campus Centre in Luton to learn about the support available to enhance their student experience across the University and to take part in the Brain Power competition sponsored by the International Office.

The Business School at the University organised the fair with support from the Careers and Employment service, and students were invited to test their brain power on a number of tests. These included a range of psychometric tests, including critical reading and reasoning, analytical skills, creative problem solving, numeracy, spatial ability and sequencing and patterns.

Careers Adviser Ajaz Hussain created the challenge and said: “Students queued up to take part. These are typical tests that graduate employers are increasingly using to assess potential employees and our University students rose to the challenge.”

Two students in particular demonstrated their brain power at the fair. Manish Kaushik and Quincy Birch were awarded prizes of trips to Oxford and Cambridge.

Sarah Jennings from the University’s International Office said: “We are delighted to have supported this event and awarded prizes to our potential high-fliers, Manish and Quincy.”

Tim Priestman, MBA Programmes Director, and Angela Hockley, Course Leader, were at the event. They added:“This was the first Postgraduate Induction Fair in the new Campus Centre and it worked really well. We are already planning for the next one, with support from the Careers and Employment Service and the International Office.”
