The University of Bedfordshire has paid tribute to Kenyan Olympic Marathon Champion Samuel Wanjiru following his sudden death.
Director of Sport Professor John Brewer said: “All of us at the University are very saddened to hear the news of the tragic death of Olympic Marathon Champion Sammy Wanjiru.
“It was only last year that Sammy spent time at the University, meeting with and inspiring staff and students, and his friendliness and willingness to share his experiences and thoughts will be fondly remembered by all those who were lucky enough to meet him. We would like to express our condolences to his family, and the Kenyan community in Bedfordshire and beyond, at this very sad time.”
