The Organisational Development and Training Unit (ODTU) at the University of Bedfordshire hosted it’s first ever Springboard Women’s Development Programme earlier this year.

Lucy Farnes, ODTU Training Officer and Springboard Programme Manager said: “Springboard consists of four one-day workshops and a workbook delivered over a period of four months. The programme enables women to give more and get more out of their work by identifying where they are going and then developing the skills and confidence to get on with it.”

16 women from across the University’s departments and campuses began their Springboard course last January. The programme concluded on 6 April at the Putteridge Bury campus.

At this final session, all delegates were awarded certificates, presented by Professor Tiantian Xhang, Director of LIRANS Institute of Research in the Applied Natural Sciences, at the University.

Commenting on completion of the course, Jo Edwards, an Information Assistant in Library Services at the University’s Bedford campus said; “The Springboard programme has helped me to re-discover the woman I once was. It’s helped me to feel more confident and to re-evaluate what I want and how I develop my career”.

The award winning Springboard programme has been delivered to over 200,000 women at organisations worldwide and will be offered again to female staff at the University in the new academic year.
