University campaign moves up a gear

Mon 21st November, 2011

One University of Bedfordshire student loves the University so much that he is branding his car with its logo.

And the car branding is just part of a wider regional campaign being launched this week by the University which includes an innovative online ‘storybook’ viral campaign.

Deputy Director of Marketing, Faye Scadden, said: “Along with Omar Alketbi's car, storybooks with tales from some of the University’s graduates will be left around the region, in places like bus stations and shopping centres, with the opportunity to pick one up and add your own story.

“It’s about looking at and acknowledging those people and places in our lives that have influenced us most. We can’t wait to see what people have to say.”

Omar’s car will have a University bumper sticker and a logo on each side and it will be unveiled at 12:30pm on Monday, 21 November at the University’s Campus Centre in Luton.

Omar, who came to the UK to study a Masters in Applied Computing, has a Nissan 350z which has been modified. He said: “I’m a real car freak, and my car always attracts attention wherever I go.

“I had a brilliant year at Bedfordshire and graduated with distinction. I loved it here and got great support from my faculty, colleagues and lecturers.”

Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon CBE DL added: “Students who come here benefit from strong student support whatever their background. For example, some 88 per cent of our students benefited from a scholarship or bursary last year.”

Other stories include TV and radio presenter Gemma Hunt and local physiotherapist, teacher and medal-winning athlete Ottilie Morgan.

The campaign also includes posters, banners and railway hoardings. To find out where to look for the storybooks visit success.beds.ac.uk
