A journalism graduate from the University of Bedfordshire who just missed out on reaching the live finals of The X Factor last weekend has vowed to battle on to achieve her dream.
Sharna Allen, 21, who is part of musical threesome, The Lovettes, may have left The X Factor but she doesn’t plan on giving up.
“We plan on staying together - we have had interest from a producer in America and hopefully it will be good for us. I always knew I wanted to sing.” said Sharna.
Sharna, from Letchworth, Hertfordshire, graduated in the summer with a 2.1 degree in Journalism. She was roped into auditioning for The X Factor by another Bedfordshire University student, Rosie Benjamin, and she hoped it would help her with her studies.
Sharna said: “I was doing my dissertation on The X Factor and how it was portrayed in the British media. I always wanted to audition but I never had the guts. Then I decided to have a go. I thought it would give me a chance to get an insight into The X Factor.”
Sharna made it through to Boot Camp, where Rosie was sent home. However, Sharna was put with two other contestants, Chess Leigh and Melissa Foster, to form The Lovettes.
The girls went through to the Judges' Houses stage in Greece and performed for judge Tulisa and singer Jessie J.
Sharna said: “Jessie J is one of our idols so it was very nerve wracking. We were absolutely devastated to be sent home but the whole X Factor experience has been amazing and we will never forget it.”
