A Science lecturer from the University of Bedfordshire put her best foot forward when she took part in the nationwide fundraising event, Shine.

Doctor Louisa Vincini from the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science (CATS) raised around £300 when she tackled a 26-mile night walk through London to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Louisa said: “I completed the walk in a speedy six hours 38 minutes and raised around £300. It was a fantastic evening but it was very painful afterwards. I’m back to normal now - bring on the next challenge!”

Louisa was due to be joined by her colleague Dr Barbara Guinn, but when she had to pull out due to illness. Louisa remained adamant that she would still take part, and roped in her husband Stefano to join her on the night.

Louisa said: “Stefano and I had done a little training. We were aiming for around seven hours but smashed it. It was a shame Barbara couldn't do it, but I was determined to still do it myself, and I’m really pleased with the achievement.”
