A busy working mum and student from the University of Bedfordshire has managed to squeeze filmmaking into her hectic schedule as she helps produce a Bollywood film.

Kay Auj, a law student with her own casting and production agency, has been working on the set of Bollywood film, Someday, and even encouraged the crew to film a section of the film at the University.

“I persuaded them to come here as Bedfordshire is a very multicultural university with warm and friendly people,” said Kay.

As well as providing extras and helping with production through her agency, Kay, from Bedford, is also fulfilling a life-long ambition to study law and is working towards a degree at the University.

“I have always been interested in law ever since I was a little girl but I never got the chance to study. It is a good degree to have. The University is perfect as it is local to me and my husband works nearby.”

The mother-of-three admits that juggling so many demands is difficult but has had support from her lecturers.

Someday, which Kay describes as a mixture of Bollywood and street dance, is being filmed by Indian film company, PRBA Productions, who travelled from Mumbai to finish off a scene at the University before returning home to finish editing.

The majority of the filming took place in Sheffield, as the film tells the autobiographical tale of Saahil Prem, who is also the film’s director, and follows his journey as he comes to Sheffield from India to go to university. It is due for release next year.
