A talented University of Bedfordshire student, who plays at scrum half for Bedford Blues Rugby Academy, has just been selected for the Scotland Under-20 rugby squad.

Alistair Price has been training with the squad at Murrayfield in Scotland and has now been announced as part of the 40-strong Scotland Under-20 squad ready for the upcoming Under-20 Six Nations tournament.

The first of Scotland’s Six Nations games is against England on 3 February at Firhill in Glasgow. The squad will then travel to Wales on Friday, 10 February before playing France under-20s at Netherdale, Galashiels on Friday 24 February.

Alistair joined the Blues Academy while studying for A levels and established himself quickly in the Under-19 squad. He was invited to take part in pre-season training with the Blues first XV squad and has already played in the British and Irish Cup.

Director of Sport, Professor John Brewer, said: “Congratulations to Alistair on his selection. He has played well for Bedford Blues and has shown real commitment to get this far. We’ll be watching his progress with interest.”

Bedford Blues Academy Director Denis Ormesher said: “We are delighted with this selection for Ali. He has taken his chances with the Blues well and has trained hard to get where he has. He will be in contention for Scotland Under-20s next season as well.”
