Academics are being invited to submit papers for a conference at the University of Bedfordshire that will explore how the Cinderella story is interpreted around the world.

The conference, called All about Cinderella: retellings in the cultural imagination, will take place in June 2017 and is organised by the University’s Research Institute for Media, Arts and Performance (RIMAP)

The conference will provide an open debate about the ever-present story of Cinderella, focussing on the role of performance and storytelling as a way to analyse moments of significant artistic, cultural and social change.

Senior Lecturer in English Literature Dr Nicola Darwood said: “The conference is an exciting opportunity for academics from a range of disciplines, including literature, dance, theatre and film, to share their research on the ever-popular and ever-present tale of Cinderella.

“We have already received a number of very interesting proposals from academics in the UK, Australia and the USA and we’re looking forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world to the University.”

Please send abstracts and support documentation to cinderella@beds.ac.uk by 11.30pm on Friday 9 December 2016.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by Friday 3 February 2017.
