Members of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club prepared for a new season when they visited the University of Bedfordshire’s Human Performance Centre.

The team visited the Centre at the University’s Bedford campus to find out if there were any areas they could improve on before the new season gets underway.

The team used force plates to measure different aspects of force production and also measured their body fat composition.

Technician for Sport & Exercise Science at the University Callum Mould said: “In everyday life it’s good to know your body fat percentage and where you can improve in terms of exercise and nutrition. As an athlete, the quicker you can move your body, the better, so it’s good to know if you have extra weight that you can get rid of to improve your performance.”

Player Graeme White said: “It’s always good to know how we can improve as now we have five months before the season starts to get those things right.”

Chris Tombs, Head of Strength & Conditioning at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club said: “The work we have done here today gives us a really good idea of where the players are at the start of an off-season period. It has given me an overview of the overall physical condition that the guys are in so I can programme their routines more effectively.”

Bedfordshire’s Human Performance Centre providers a range of health, fitness and wellness services aimed at optimising overall wellbeing, including environmental training, metabolic assessment, fitness assessment, and strength & conditioning.
