Workshop Descriptions

This is the first time that there are PARELEC hosted workshops. We have 4 workshops which are a very important part of PARELEC 2011. They cover specific topics related to parallel and distributed computing, green related issues and relevant applications.

The PARELEC 2011 workshops are as following:

  • Intel Workshop: Advances in Parallelism and Tools Workshop
  • First International Workshop on Green Computing and Sustainability (GCS-2011)
  • First International Workshop on Advanced Computing and Engineering Applications (ACEA-2011)
  • First International Workshop on Situated Computing for Pervasive Environments (SCOPE-2011)

These workshops bring to the researchers conducting research in specific themes, the opportunity to learn from this rich multi-disciplinary experience.

1. Intel Workshop:  Advances in Parallelism and Tools Workshop

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 5 April and covers the following topics:

  • Thread Correctness and Thread Performance
  • Integrated Architecture and Tools – Cilk Plus Revision
  • Intel™ Many-core Testing Lab.

2. First International Workshop on Situated Computing for Pervasive Environments (SCOPE-2011)

SCOPE-2011 will discuss advances in situated and pervasive computing, that is to say about computing devices having the autonomous ability of adapting, detecting, interpreting and responding to the user’s future smart environment. Future smart systems increasingly require advanced networks, middleware and interfaces for enabling collaborative technologies, distributed computing and intelligent systems provide an autonomous pervasive environment satisfying user needs.
