Research in ICT Business Applications (RICTA)

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) form an essential and integral part of modern business organisations. The rapid development in ICT has made, and is still making, a profound impact on organisations, government and society.

Increasingly, businesses of all sizes have to rely on ICT to deliver their products and services, and more critically, to survive and grow. Information systems are now acknowledged as the important driver for innovation and an essential ingredient for success and growth.

The deployment of advanced ICT in business organisations is constantly creating new opportunities, as well as challenges. To maximise the potential benefits that ICT can deliver, it is imperative for ICT researchers to understand and address the critical issues associated with ICT applications.

The Group of Research in ICT Business Applications (RICTA) in the Business School provides a focal point for staff within the School. It aims to:

  • conduct theoretical and empirical research on issues related to the development, management and use of ICT in business organisations
  • facilitate and support other related research activities
  • share knowledge and exchange ideas amongst internal staff and with external partners
  • encourage and support the development of new research ideas and innovative projects
  • disseminate research findings and project outcomes
  • serve as focal point for developing and extending research collaborations with external academic institutions

Research themes

The underlying objective of RICTA is to help organisations and individuals to effectively implement ICT and maximise the value they can gain from the applications.
