Research
The centre’s purpose and goal is to explore the nature of leadership needed for healthy, effective, high performing and sustainable 21st Century organisations which also add to the public good (health, wealth and welfare).
We see the centre’s role as being to research and provide thought leadership, to provoke debate and challenge holy cows, to influence and inspire opinion formers in public life and to develop real organisational leaders by stimulating new thinking and engaging them in co-creating new practice.
Our aim is to close the knowing-doing gap (Pfeffer) and create new leadership practice more appropriate to the dynamic and uncertain context, and to the changing needs and aspirations of tomorrow’s workforce and other stakeholders. We therefore see CLI as a ‘do tank’ and/or leadership laboratory, with lessons from practice inspiring new research and vice versa. We see our role as provoking thinking and developing new approaches and methods through which people and organisations can make better choices and learn new ways forward.
