Dr David J Hall

Profile

David J Hall David J Hall has held senior positions within a range of organisations in a variety of sectors – forensic science, electronics, oil and gas, engineering.  Since 2001 he has been CEO of HFL Sport Science Ltd – conducting doping control activity within a wide range of sports across the world – leaving in July 2011 to establish his own start-up ventures (The Ideas Centre Ltd and Bodyfit Sport Science Ltd).

David has an MA from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD from the Department of Materials Science in Cambridge.  He has an MBA from the Open University. A passion for creativity and innovation, and a pursuit of the perfect culture, provide a common thread throughout his career to date.

The challenge is clear; how to get the every best out of the employees, to truly differentiate the company on that basis of the people. To this end, The Ideas Centre Ltd has been established to facilitate the development of creativity and innovation within member businesses, attracting like-minded organisations to stimulate their change agents, and to achieve top-down paradigm-breaking change.

Bodyfit Sport Science Ltd was established to make sport science available to serious amateur athletes, analysing sweat to provide essential information on biomarkers of fitness in order to optimise performance.  This neatly continues the thread of bodily fluids though David’s recent career – noting that HFL specialised in the analysis of drugs in urine and blood.

Key achievements over the last 10 years include:
  • Winner, Laboratory of the Year 2004
  • Entry into The Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For
  • Winner, East of England Excellence 2005
  • E-on Award – “UK’s Most Energetic Boss” (2007)

In 2007 became Visiting Professor in Business Creativity at the University of Bedfordshire.
