Martin is an organisational consultant, facilitator and coach with particular expertise in leadership development. He runs his own practice, Mayvin Limited, and works as an Associate for London Business School, CIPD and Roffey Park Institute. He is passionate about unleashing potential, helping individuals, teams and organisations to do things that they could never have dreamed possible.
Martin combines a strong professional background with specific expertise in leadership development, group dynamics and Organisational Development (OD). Much of his time is spent helping organisations and teams to develop the leadership they need to succeed, and helping individual leaders to build emotional intelligence, resilience, authenticity and impact.
In the OD arena, he designs and delivers OD initiatives, providing consultancy and supporting clients in developing their own OD capacity. An experienced facilitator, he has worked with top teams and Boards, facilitating learning sets, developing strategy and building team effectiveness. He is also well-versed in designing and delivering Large Group Interventions.
Martin has worked with organisations in a wide variety of sectors, ranging from finance and industry to health, the arts, local government and higher education. Current and recent clients include Lloyds Banking Group, Cairn Energy, Yorkshire & Humber Strategic Health Authority, Norfolk County Council, Bristol University and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Before setting up his own practice, Martin was a Senior Consultant at Roffey Park Institute, a specialist management institute focusing on developing people and organisations. While at Roffey Park, he was Programme Director of their Organisational Development Practitioners Programme, building it into one of the UK’s leading programmes in this field. Prior to that he was Director of Strategic Planning and Operations at London Business School.
Martin is certified as a Somatic Coach with Strozzi Institute. A somatic coach works through the physical body to help people build presence and impact, managing their mood more effectively and developing better relationships. This enables people to operate skilfully under pressure, take new actions, inspire others and ultimately to create the future they want for themselves and their organisation.
Martin’s early career was spent in opera management. He was General Manager of British Youth Opera, the UK’s opera training company, and also worked at San Francisco Opera. He has a degree in Classics from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School as well as a Foundation Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent’s College. He maintains his connection to the world of opera as Deputy Chairman of Board of British Youth Opera, and enjoys flying light aeroplanes.
