How to apply for a research degree

To apply for a research degree, please make sure you fulfill the entry requirements and then complete the online research degree application form and upload your supporting documents.

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

International applicants should be aware of our research degree English language requirements

Activities

The Research Support Office has two main areas of activities:

Support for Research Staff

Funding opportunities

  • Identifying and matching the research staff needs
  • Provide information on available funding opportunities
  • Pro-actively disseminate funding opportunities as they arise
  • Co-ordinate interdisciplinary bids between departments/faculties

Help with bid writing

  • Gathering information about technical, financial and administrative procedures
  • Contacting partners and the funding agencies
  • Searching for partners when more or new contacts needed
  • Preparing the budget/producing FEC in conjunction with Management Accounts

Submission process

  • Co-ordination of the proposal approval process
  • Supporting electronic/paper submission

Post-award process

  • Assistance with contracts in conjunction with Legal Office
  • Liaising with funding body and partnership
  • Controlling the budget and preparation of the financial reports
  • Managing the administration of the project
