Yanqing obtained her BSc in Mechanical Engineering in 1982 and MSc in Systems Engineering in 1985 both from China Agriculture University (CAU).
She worked as a lecturer teaching and researching on decision–making modelling using computers between 1985 to 1989 in CAU.
In 1989, She was awarded a PhD scholarship under SBFSS (Sino–British Friendship Scholarship Scheme). This scholarship enabled her to pursue the research on the use of expert systems for organizational decision making at Aston Business School, Aston University, UK.
Yanqing received her doctoral degree in 1994 at Aston University. She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the development and use of hybrid systems in strategic marketing planning at the School of Computing and Mathematics in South Bank University.
Yanqing joined the University of Bedfordshire Business School as a research fellow in 1995 and has been a professor of Information Systems since Feb 2007.
Yanqing is a visiting professor of China Agriculture University.
Over the last twenty years, Yanqing’s principal research interest has been focused on how the emerging ICTs can be effectively used in, and what is their impact on, enhancing business performance, supporting decision making, facilitating knowledge transfer, and improving skills development.
This research focus is reflected in the context of ICT based knowledge management and transfer, use of decision support systems and knowledge-based systems in organisational and individual decision making and strategic marketing planning, Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) adoption of e–Commerce / e–Business, and web–based training systems for SMEs.
Over last 10 years, Yanqing has generated over one million pounds research income for the University from various sources, including European Commissions, British Council, and commercial organisations.
