How to apply for a research degree

To apply for a research degree, please make sure you fulfill the entry requirements and then complete the online research degree application form and upload your supporting documents.

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

Research activities

Currently, Dr. Melrose and Dr. Brodie are working with colleagues from the International Centre for the Study of Sexually Exploited and Trafficked Young People on a national study, funded by Comic Relief, exploring Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards’ responses to new guidance introduced in 2009 by the DCSF.

Dr. Melrose is additionally working with colleagues from the Vauxhall Centre for the Study of Crime to explore the social and psychological impacts on young people of living in gang-affected neighbourhoods and with colleagues from the Institute of Health Research to explore children’s experiences of living in poverty.

She has also been leading on developing work exploring international adoption markets and baby trafficking in the UK.

Dr. Brodie’s work on looked after children and young people also frequently overlaps with the interests of The Tilda Goldberg Centre.
