LIRANS is located at the new Butterfield business and technology park on the outskirts of Luton.
Luton is served by East Midlands Trains (formerly Midland Mainline) services between Sheffield and London St Pancras International.
First Capital Connect services connect Luton with Bedford (23 min), London (34 min to St Pancras International; Farringdon; Barbican; Moorgate; City Thameslink; Blackfriars; and 50 min to London Bridge), East Croydon (64 min), Gatwick Airport (80 min) and Brighton (2 h) for the South Coast.
Luton is served by junctions 10 and 11 of the M1 motorway that is connected to the London orbital M25 to the south and to the M6 to the north.
Bedford is to the north of Luton on the A6. Luton is also served by the A505 towards Cambridge in the east and towards Oxford in the west.
WARNING Those using satellite navigation or other mapping systems should be aware that some providers place LU2 8DL in the Wigmore area - near the airport. This is incorrect, Butterfield is on the A505 Hitchin Road.
The University operates a controlled parking scheme. Visitors to LIRANS should ensure that a visitors parking space has been reserved - and ensure that they display (and return) their temporary permit. Visitor parking comprises the four right-hand spaces directly outside of building 250 in The Village area of the Butterfield estate.
The Research Centre is conveniently located close to Luton Airport which has an increasing number of connections to Europe and within the UK. The taxi ride from the airport is 10 - 15 min.
