Dr Barry Haggett

Dr Barry Haggett CPhys MInstP CSci CChem FRSC

Laboratory Manager and Head of the Sensor Research Group

Dr Haggett is a physicochemist by training and specialises in the development of chemical and biochemical sensing systems  The majority of this work is funded directly by industry and as such is confidential.  Almost invariably, such work is undertaken using staff rather than students, so the focus can be on customer needs rather than the requirement to defend a thesis. Much of the work undertaken has involved the development of disposable electrochemical devices - in a variety of formats and for diverse applications.

In the laboratory manager role, Dr Haggett is particularly keen to promote health and safety and constantly strives to devise systems and protocols that are both simple and effective.
