Dr Dong Pang has research experience in the life course
epidemiology of chronic diseases, including cancer, mental illness, chronic
pain, international health, and end of life care.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, an associate member of the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG), and member of the John Snow Society. Previously he has held posts at the University of Manchester (2001-2008), King's College London (2000-2001), University of Nottingham (1997-2000) and University of Aberdeen (2008-2011).
In recent years, his two first-authored papers
(presentation) won prizes in national and international conferences,
respectively.
He was also invited to present his
paper as the cover figure in the International Journal of Cancer by the 2008
Nobel Laureate in Medicine.
In addition, his paper about childhood behaviour and chronic widespread pain was the subject of a press release organised by the Oxford Rheumatology journal and received extensive press coverage.
His earlier paper about parental smoking and childhood cancer has considerable impact and has received good comments from Sir Richard Doll.
Dong is pleased to consider applications from prospective PhD students or potential research collaboration from clinicians.
Current Research includes:
Dong lectures
and coordinators 3 units for the MSc in Public Health: Epidemiology, Experimental Evidence and Evaluation
and Public Health Intelligence and is a supervisor for MSc Public Health and PhD students.
Dong is a grant reviewer for the Department of Health, the UK National Health and Medical Research Council,
Australia and the National Science Foundation of China.
He is a journal reviewers for Rheumatology, Arthritis Care & Research, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers &
Prevention, the International Journal of Cancer and Cancer Causes and Control.
