Research
Emma Wilkinson is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Health Research and manages two externally funded research projects: Diabetic Renal Disease Care Pathway study and End of Life Care study.
Common aspects of these studies are that they explore the south Asian patient experience in relation to quality of care in order to inform and develop cultural competency of services.
Emma has a background in the biomedical sciences and has worked conducting applied health research for the past 15 years in NHS, for an independent research consultancy and now in an academic setting.
Her main research interest is the application of action research methodology in Public Health and this is the subject of her PhD thesis.
The projects she works on incorporate elements of action research and Emma provides expertise and advice for the National Institute for Health Research - Research Design Services in this area.
