How to apply for a research degree

To apply for a research degree, please make sure you fulfill the entry requirements and then complete the online research degree application form and upload your supporting documents.

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

With a background in medicine and Anaesthesia; diverse range of experience inĀ  areas related to health as well as administration, Dr Muhamamd Waqar is working as a Research Assistant for the Institute for Health Research.

Presently, he is helping with the Faith and Organ Donation Project funded by the Department of Health. This project aims to stimulate a debate on organ donation amongst UK's multi-faith and multi ethnic population.

In 2008, Muhammad was awarded a MSc by the University of Bedfordshire in Public Health and he is keen to research health inequalities related to immigration.

His MSc dissertation focused on acquiring cognisance of Hepatitis C among the South Asian students in the UK; aims to pursue PhD in the same area, to research for the better understanding of Hepatitis C problem among the South Asian community of the UK.

Muhammad has also got an interest in researching attitudes and behaviours regarding sexually transmitted and blood transmitted diseases in the minority ethnic groups of the UK.

He has been actively involved in the campaigns and seminars in the local area for promoting awareness about sexually transmitted/blood transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.
