Professor Samuel Stein graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in 1986.
After completing his internship at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, he moved to the United Kingdom to undertake his registrar training in general psychiatry in Oxford.
Dr. Stein graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and criminology before completing his higher training in child and adolescent psychiatry at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, he is a Consultant in Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatry in Bedfordshire.
In addition to a number of articles within this fields, he has edited several books including: Disorganized Children, National CAMHS Dataset, Essentials of Psychotherapy; Psychotherapy in Practice: A Life in the Mind and Beyond Belief:Psychotherapy and Religion.
Dr. Stein, a Visiting Professor at the Institute or Health Research at the University of
Bedfordshire, has a commitment to service-oriented research and operational development.
These initiatives have been implemented successfully across Bedfordshire and Luton, and have been utilised nationally as examples of accessible and effective good practice.
He is also a trained Family Mediator, a member of the Bedfordshire and Luton Family Justice Council, a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Human Rights Committee and an Associate Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies.
