Susan Sapsed

Senior Lecturer in Midwifery and Women's Health, Course Lead for Public Health Masters

Susan Sapsed

I started teaching in 1976 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden City and completed my degree with the Open University in 1986.

I have worked since 1994 with the University of Bedfordshire, initially teaching the degree called Women Studies. In October 2003, I finished my MPhil ‘Exploring how nurses and midwives gain their research skills’.

As a Graduate member of the BPS, this qualification has been used with distance learning students at London South Bank University for over 14 years.

Over the years I have taught many subjects in Nursing and Midwifery and have been a Parentcraft Sister. Additionally, I have link wards at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Hospital Trust.

I have been teaching on the Public Heath Masters since 2005, and have overseen its progress and adoption of a distance learning mode. My areas of interest are Public Health, Health Promotion, Ethics, Gynaecology, Professional Development (all aspects) and Midwifery.
