@neurIST: Integrated Biomedical Informatics for the Management of Cerebral Aneurysms (2006 - 2010)

aneurist logo

@neurIST was an integrated project including over 30 partners focused on cerebral aneurysms. It created an integrated decision support system to assess the risk of aneurysm rupture in patients and to optimise their treatments, based on the belief that previous processes of cerebral aneurysm diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment development were highly compromised by the fragmentation of relevant data.

@neurIST presented a new paradigm to understand and manage cerebral aneurysms by combining the efforts of clinicians and industry to develop a complete IT infrastructure for the management, integration and processing of data associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cerebral aneurysm and subarachnoid haemorrhage.

This infrastructure is able to:

  • facilitate for clinicians the diagnosis and study of the disease, by providing seamless access to patient data using data fusion and processing of complex information spanning levels from the molecular to the whole person;
  • provide better planning and personalisation of minimally invasive interventional procedures for patients by linking modern diagnostic imaging to computational tools;
  • share biomedical knowledge by providing access to a set of software tools and platforms such as @neuLink, @neuFuse, @neuRisk, @neuEndo, @neuCompute and @neuInfo.
