Centre for Wireless Research

Centre for Wireless Research

The Centre for Wireless Research brings together expertise in the areas of mobile and wireless sensor networks. The breadth and depth of the expertise make the Centre rich with research and innovation potential.

We have an established track record in fundamental and applied research, conducting consultancy projects and training course provision. We welcome collaboration with public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas.

The centre consists of academic staff, research staff and research students, Business Interactions Manager and Infrastructure Manager. We welcome research degree applications via the Graduate School.

Our laboratory facilities include:

  • State-of-the-art test and measurement equipment
  • Modeling and simulation software
  • Experimental software defined radio platforms
  • 60 GHz experimental platform
  • RF-over-fibre communications system

Our lab facilities enable us to conduct research underpinned by theory, simulation and experimentation. The findings feed into our taught degree courses

The Centre for Wireless Research consists of two special interest groups along with several cross-cutting themes, as shown in the organogram. It is one of three Centres that constitute the Institute for Research into Applicable Computing.
