How to apply for a research degree

To apply for a research degree, please make sure you fulfill the entry requirements and then complete the online research degree application form and upload your supporting documents.

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

Jon Hitchcock, PhD Research Student

Jon Hitchcock obtained a degree in mathematics at the University of Cambridge and then started a career in the computer industry. This included long periods of working for GEC Computers in Dunstable and Borehamwood, and for Uniplex in Hemel Hempstead.

Only after this did he study for a computing qualification, obtaining an MSc in Internet Computing (with distinction) from the University of Luton in 2004.

Jon then worked as a demonstrator in the Computing Labs at Luton Campus before taking up a studentship to do research on Automated Processing and Analysis of Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry Screening Data.

Jon spends much of his spare time doing archaeology.
