How to apply for a research degree

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

Dr Nigel McFarlane, Research Fellow

Nigel joined the department in April 2006, as an algorithm developer for the Living Human Digital Library project.  His previous career history was spent in the image analysis group at Silsoe Research Institute, where he worked on a wide variety of intelligent sensing projects, including grain dryer control, automatic vine pruning, shape modelling of fish, embryo imaging, and 3D imaging of live pigs.  He obtained his PhD in X-ray inspection of food in 2002. Outside work, Nigel can be found playing tuba in the Luton Symphony Orchestra.
