The PhD is supported by an EPSRC Industrial CASE award. His programme combines both academic and commercial aspects, working with a local company.
Peter obtained a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield in 1990. He gained his PGCE as a Maths teacher from Sheffield City Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University) in 1992.
In 2004 he completed his conversion MSc (Dist) in Internet Technologies at the University of Luton. His thesis was titled "Developing accessibility-compliant websites supported by data-storage systems".
Prior to starting the PhD his work included teaching hearing-impaired children from 5 to 18 years old, cross-curricular tutoring of students from school to degree level, training teachers in IT skills, designing accessible websites and editing a regional community magazine.
Peter enjoys travel, cinema and socialising with friends.
