Currently Xiaoyan works with the Centre for Wireless Network Design (CWIND) in IRAC as a Marie-Curie Fellow. She joined the Centre in December 2006.
Her research focuses on the study of 3G/4G/WMAN/WLAN network planning and optimization.
Xiaoyan obtained her M.Phil Degree in 2006 from the School of Telecommunication Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), where she majored in Wireless/Mobile Communication.
From 1999 to 2003, Xiaoyan studied in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) and obtained her B.Eng Degree in Electronic Information Engineering in 2003.
Before starting at CWIND IRAC, from 09/2005 Xiaoyan worked with the Communication Technology Lab, Intel China Research Center (CTL, ICRC) Beijing LAB, where her projects focused on co-existence and convergence of different wireless technologies: 802.11a + 802.11b Mixed-Networking and GSM/GPRS + WiMAX + 802.11n Mixed-Networking.
Her research focused on giving a novel multi-radio solution to implementing different networks concurrently and co-operatively with efficient algorithms or cross-layer scheduling and coordination mechanism.
From 09/2004-08/2005, Xiaoyan worked with the Wireless Network R&D Group, China Putian Institute of Technology (CPIT) in Beijing as a Wireless/Mobile System Simulation Engineer.
Her project, TD-SCDMA System Exploring and Simulation Software developing, focused on developing optimized algorithms and parameter configuration for TD-SCDMA system.
In this project, Xiaoyan was in charge of the software design and coding of Radio Bearer (RB) and RAB (Radio Access Bearer) running procedure control, RRC (Radio Recourse Control) layer and RLC (Radio Link Control) layer, MAC layer interaction procedure and TM, UM, AM RLC function; she was also in charge of the algorithm design for RLC parameter configuration.
Xiaoyan also undertook some work related to Radio Resource Management of cdma2000 system and focused on the Scheduling Algorithm for High-Rate Packet Data Traffic during her M.Phil study in BUPT.
In her spare time, Xiaoyan likes playing tennis, jogging and hiking with her friends, and talking about interesting topics with her twin sister on the telephone. She also enjoys reading, listening to music and watching movies.
